Trader Joe's Low Sodium Soups & Marinara Sauce

I got the Frequent Flyer in the mail a while ago and noticed some new low sodium products. And about a week ago, I happened to drop by a local Trader Joe's and picked up the products. I've already used two of them and thought now would be a good time to make a report.
Trader Joe's Organic Low Sodium Creamy Tomato Soup
32 oz. container - 1 cup = 140 mg. sodium
Trader Joe's Organic Low Sodium Butternut Squash Soup
32 oz. container - 1 cup = 90 mg. sodium
Trader Joe's Organic Low Sodium Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper Soup
32 oz. container - 1 cup = 140 mg. sodium
Trader Giotto's Organic Marinara Sauce (No Salt Added)
26 oz. jar - 1/2 cup = 25 mg. sodium

I've already used the Trader Joe's Organic Low Sodium Creamy Tomato Soup for a couple of quick suppers. It really does taste good, reminiscent of the ubiquitous Campbell's but not as sweet. It certainly can be dressed up to make it even tastier. Perhaps a drizzle of garlic or basil oil. A sprinkling of chopped scallions or chiffonade of basil. A dollop of sour cream, a handful of homemade low sodium croutons, and a light dusting of shredded Parmesan cheese. The sky's the limit! Really good stuff and I plan to buy more next time I'm at Trader Joe's.

I also used Trader Giotto's Organic Marinara Sauce (No Salt Added) for a quick pasta supper and was pleasantly surprised. To me, it tasted as good as any of the other jarred marinara sauces that are loaded with salt. It's pretty basic, so it lends itself to all kinds of add ins. From sauteed mushrooms, onion, & garlic to homemade low sodium Italian sausage or homemade low sodium meatballs. It's great to know that there is a truly low sodium pasta sauce available for those busy nights when I need a short cut.
